Community Tasting Notes 5

June 11, 2012 - My Birthday celebration Tasting (Extra Space, Boon Keng): Medium ruby red with brick red hues and showing maturity. Pop n pour and it needs some times in the glass to open up, showing nice bouquet of red fruits, floral and hints of truffle. Elegant palate, some earthy notes with chalky mouth feel, still got good fruits, prune, blackberry and slightly raisiny. Soft acidity, long finish and soft subtle tannins.
100% Grenache and this wine was served blind alongside 1992 Seppelt Shiraz and showing a big contrast in term of flavour and style although both coming from the same vintage. It shows a very nice development and more complex than Seppelt. It has reached full maturity and drinking nicely now before it starts to fall.

March 25, 2010 - Definitive Rhone (Fabi and Rosi European Kitchen Austin, Texas): From a mediocre vintage, this wine had a surprising amount of fruit and alcohol. It had medium acid and body, with a sweet nose, candy shop and tart fruit flavors, and a soft finish. Roasted beets, cranberry, game, tree bark, and honey were detected. Some found it "out of whack," with hot tannins and bitter, rustic, sour, asphalt components; others called it bright and enjoyable.

July 19, 2009 - ruby red;big nose of roses, lilacs, later leather and cedar cigar box;sweet dried cherry, red currant flavors very good first impression but hole in mid body and no finishing flavors; dry, thin finish. scored +2 pts for such a enjoyable nose, downhill from there

February 12, 2002 - Small Chapoutier Tasting (Chicago IL): Totally faded...if it was ever particularly interesting. Stay clear. Didn't seem like a flawed bottle.
