Community Tasting Notes 5

May 10, 2015 - Still going strong, nice mountain fruit, not over-extracted. Give it at least 45 minutes in the decanter.

February 19, 2006 - Blind tasting follies - Bryant, Sloan, Pride, Abreu and Skyhawk(??): Blind: Great nose. Ripe fruit, burnt rubber (in a good way). On the palate, beautiful purity to the fruit - notes of cedar and chocolate. Great, concentrated fruit. Long, smooth, powerful finish. Awesome wine. Probably an aged bordeaux from a great year. 200+ wine. After revealed: Group score: 92.5 Lots of debate about this one before and after reveal. Most loved it, many thought it was bordeaux, everyone thought it was a 200+ wine. Lots of surprise when revealed, including the person who brought it.

February 11, 2006 - This is drinking real good now...Viscous and bountiful, great fruit with just enough backbone to really give this boy structure. A big medium to full bodied offering that will keep getting better for a few more years

October 18, 2003 - C:90, M:84. Nice looking, dark all the way to the rim. Coating the glass.
Nose 1 - 1/2 hour in decanter. Ripe nose with well integrated black currant and vanilla with some spicy oak.
Palate 1 - Medium body, fairly soft but still well balanced. Good black currant, vanilla and some spice. nice, fairly long aftertaste with cedar, vanilla and licorice.
N2 - 1 hour. Rich, fruity nose with lots of nuances. Very impressive.
P2 - Putting on weight, it is now full bodied with rich flavors and a long aftertaste.
After almost three hours it is still going strong. The soft tannins are barely nocable but this wine will last for many years (maybe even decades), but it is so delicious now that it will probably not get any better.
