June 9, 2020 - Appearance: Bright and clear, the wine is of light ruby colour, with wide garnet rims and legs.
Nose: Clean, with medium intensity aromas of red fruit of cherries and raspberry, mineral notes of earth, sweet spice of clove, herbal notes of dried spice, animal notes of gamey, maturity notes of forest floor. The wine is developing.
Palate: Dry with medium acidity, the wine has medium tannin of ripe and silky texture, medium alcohol, medium body and medium intensity flavours of red fruit of cherries, plum and raspberry, mineral notes of earth, floral notes of violet. The wine has a medium (+) finish.
Conclusion: Very good quality Clos Vougeot with a reasonably intense nose showing decent complexity, with a range of red fruit of mineral aromas, some dried spice and maturity characters. On the palate it is robust and well-balanced, with good concentration and a fairly long finish. It is ready to drink now but can benefit from further ageing of another 4-6 years. -
