April 18, 2015 - Good colour, still only a trace of brick on the rim. Good legs. Good fruit on the nose when first opened and decanted.
After 2h, black fruit and prominent spice on the nose. Decent fruit, the balance of black and red fruit altered with time, becoming slightly more red. I still get fruitcake and a little spice on the relatively light palate. With time in the glass, the spice/herb notes began to displace the fruit a little but traces of raspberry and then orange developed with cherry and damson fruit and skin. Soft tannins with a touch of vanilla ice cream later.
After 3h with food (rare sirloin), the wine opened and developed. A very nice last bottle of a case which has given great pleasure since 2005.

February 14, 2015 - Good colour, only a trace of brick on the rim. Good legs. Striking fruity nose when first opened and decanted.
After 2h, blackcurrant and 'toffee' on the nose. Decent fruit, still, but tasting a bit thinner than expected. Fruit seemed to be more red than black on the palate. Some fruitcake early on and a little spice; 'dandelion and burdock' towards the end. With time in the glass, the herbal notes began to displace the fruit.
Soft tannins - more like almond skin.
After 3h with food (rare fillet), the wine opened up nicely. A very nice bottle but time to finish off our last couple of '96s.

March 2, 2014 - Dinner and tasted with the 1994 vintage. Decanted an hour beforehand. Good, dark colour. Lots of fruit on the nose and on the palate. Feels much more 'modern' than the 1994. Drinking nicely but don't think it will improve much.

August 10, 2013 - Blackcurrant leaf, black tea, firm tannins and high, slightly tart, acidity. The tannins and acid are still shouting pretty loudly and this is what you might generously call a 'food wine'. A classically lovely old claret which was welcomely drunk but this does not dazzle and im not sure I would happy if I had patiently kept this away for 17 years. Perhaps this would have been better at 10 years old. 89

November 4, 2010 - WES - Château Cissac (Imperial College London): Clear and bright, med intense. Austere and spicy nose with some vegetal, cabbage water notes. Big mouth feel. Rich, stewed fruits and a touch of blood and cassis. Long finish. Dry.
