October 3, 2019 - Bit of a different impression tonight from my other bottle in '16. Darker fruited and veering towards stewed this go, but still balanced and pretty good with our pasta ala norma. Medium (+) purplish ruby color still. Aromas of dark fruits, graphite, and a bit of floral. Medium body, medium (-) to medium acid and finish, with flavors of plum and black cherry, orange peel, and a leathery tea note. A little more rustic and food centered than the modern crowd pleaser last time. 87-88

January 13, 2018 - It is interesting to see what a difference more than four years makes in the evolution of this wine. Medium (+) ruby with garnet hues throughout. The nose is well integrated, with aromas of ripe and dried black and red fruit, aromatic mediterranean herbs and sweet spices. The nose is still developing; it does not exhibit any tertiary aromas. The palate is dry, consistent with the nose, with sweet black cherries and medium acidity, tannins and alcohol (13.5%). Basically, the palate is no longer hard and has swung to softness. This is a very nicely balanced, medium-bodied, moderately-intense wine with a savory, slightly bitter finish. Drink now or through 2018; it is probably at its peak or just a smidge past. An excellent value.

July 10, 2016 - Last of 12 consumed over 4 years. With pizza & wings - good pizza wine, good QPR.

July 8, 2016 - Nice. Pleasantly substantial before, during, and after dinner earlier this evening. At this point, I can't delineate all the nuances to the fruit, but I'm a fan of the rich smoky (even cocoa-y?) finish.
