  February 3, 2024 - If the late Paolo Bea ever made a Brunello, it might resemble something like this. The 2008 Colleone BdM pours a deep garnet; slightly browning with some rim variation. Medium+ viscosity with no staining of the tears. Some light signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with a mostly desiccated fruit profile: cherries, dried red flowers, tomatoes, balsamic, leather, and spices. Definitely some VA; “it must be Italian!” On the palate, the wine is dry with medium+ tannins and medium+ acid. The notes from the nose are confirmed. The finish is long and layered. I want more time with wine; it’s a story teller. This 2008, compared to the 2006 La Torre from the other night, just has a bit more structure to it and having enough experience with both vintages, that tracks. Drink now and through 2028.   May 16, 2020 - PnP. This opened somewhat at the 30 minute mark, and then again even more at 90 minutes, when it finally reached a plateau on the nose and palate. Excellent freshness, with the color showing little to no sign of age. Typical aromas and flavors, with lovely highlights of fresh flowers, and soil. Offers a medium body that exudes freshness, balance and a cool, bright purity. Not terribly complex, this does strut its stuff when vigorously swirled in the glass, but not so much otherwise. An elegant companion to food, I think this is in its preferred window, and I'd advise drinking sooner than later given the high-ish acids, and tannins that may outlive the fruit if you're considering a long cellaring. Bravo, Marino, brilliant natural winegrowing! 14,0% abv., natural cork. Drink now thru 2025. recommended

  August 28, 2017 - Thoroughly enjoyable Brunello made in an elegant style. This was had alongside pasta with bolognese and paired nicely. The nose shows lovely red berry fruits, anise, mint, dried floral notes, tobacco, and earth. The palate is made in an elegant and finessed vein with minimal tannins, nice juicy acidity, and very good balance. Finishes nicely. Certainly not a mind blowing wine, but a high quality wine and very enjoyable, especially if you enjoy the more elegant aspect of Sangiovese.
