March 20, 2021 - Lighter translucent ruby color. Nose of berry, damp cellar, anise, earthy tones. Layers of austere, medicinal red and black cherry cut with iron and stone on the palate, and enough concentration and depth to carry the day. Copious acidity and firm tannin. Longer finish of iron inflected briar and dark berry fruit. Excellent, with many years to go.

November 28, 2020 - Forthright dark nose of dried fruit, roasted herbs and meat and wet leaves. Complex palate consistent with aromas. Slightly lean texture with no decant. Long, clinging finish. In this vintage I'd say probably no hurry, but very fine right now.

March 19, 2020 - Seemed both slightly underripe and also too dirty/ barnyardy. An off bottle?

July 1, 2019 - Wrote this note on day 2. Still holding together nicely. Some great tension between acid and fruit on this wine. Cranberry fruits balanced by the acid. Good grip. Long finish.

May 25, 2017 - Quick note. I have enjoyed most 2011s since release despite the cries for aging them. But they are so good. Well this was fairly shut down. I loved it but it needs a few years in the cellar to unpack all that it has.
