Community Tasting Notes 10

December 27, 2013 - This wine needs food. We enjoyed it with some Cougar Gold cheddar and the creaminess of the cheese really softened the wine and took away the initial acidity quite nicely. Extremely dark in color for a pinot. Medium bodied. Dark fruits, some coffee notes, earthy. If you are holding, it is time to drink this.

We love this wine maker and always enjoy his craftsmanship with Burgundian-style pinot noir (his pinot blanc is amazing too!) If you ever get the chance, go for a visit. You won't regret it.

September 20, 2013 - 6 Liters of Mondavi and Some Randoms (Willamette Wine Storage): From a 3L. Poured very dark and tasted it. Huge dark fruit, could easily pick it was Chehalem-ish (Ribbon Ridge as it turns out). Wine lacked a tannic or acid structure that might have offset the huge dark fruits. Nothing wrong with this wine, just pretty bomb styled.

April 22, 2011 - Wow, what a beautiful wine. This was all pie cherries, cinnamon, anise, wet earth and limestone, pomegranate, cherry cola and coffee. Ethereal aromatics with a slightly gritty texture.

August 18, 2010 - Nose of pomegranate, black tea, cedar, graphite, and spices. Palate starts lush then turns rather astringent and dry on the midpalate and finish. Not entirely pleasant.
