August 25, 2023 - Had side by side with the Dujac 1990 Echezeaux. Texturally, I preferred the Dujac, as the acidity and tannins were all-so-slightly aggressive on the palate in the Jayer. Aromatically, the Jayer stole the show. Still fresh raspberries and strawberries married to spices and game. I loved the Dujac's focused and linear stem and tea spice, while the Jayer was multidimensional and overwhelmed the senses. Very different expressions, both fantastic wines. Thank you, Wilf.

December 10, 2021 - Jayer Jayer Jayer - how I love Jayer. Your wild strawberry fruit. Your uber spiced nose. The way your acidity burns bright like my loins. That inner mouth perfume of wood, red berry bring balance to the force. As clean and seamless as freshly pressed silk. You are a beauty to behold.

Best Echezeaux I've ever had. 1990 Henri Jayer Echezeaux. Thanks noigkent

October 28, 2021 - An absolutely brilliant bottle. Difficult to describe the purity and freshness of the bright red cherry, clean and bright, open and ripe, developed just so, but overall so energetic. Subtle spice but most an image of refinement and balance. Open, forward, accessible, but still detailed and cerebral. Ethereal but bright and powerful. Tinging Jayer spice. Singular and unique. Opened after a ’90 Cros Parantoux and this may have been superior. With the exception of perfect old bottles of Rouget there is nothing like this in Burgundy. (See note on ’90 Rouget Cros Parantoux, Beaumonts, and Echezeaux a few nights later and they were shockingly similar) Thank you to the most generous collector of all time for continuing to share these absolute gems.

March 13, 2021 - Fantastic wine. Pure dark cherry fruit with supporting soil-driven earthiness. Totally seamless. More weight than the slightly corked '90 Cros P tasted alongside. Love this.
