    April 9, 2020 - Good. Nothing more.

June 14, 2019 - At home with some spicy slow cooked pork, the fare needed something that would stand up to it. This one I thought up to the task, good excuse to open last bottle from a batch bought at release.

Dark, inky color...not fading from last bottle. Bog nose (Valerie commented on this when first opened...) dark/black fruits, graphite, smoke, black pepper on the nose. Palate showing blackberry, blueberry, asian spice, black pepper. Mild heat through the mid palate. Medium weight, long (ish) finish.

Time has mellowed this wine (from memory) and added some nuance. Rich mountain fruit showing through, lots going on here for the fan of a "spiced" Zinfandel...this bottle was in a good spot

December 19, 2018 - Crimson in color. 16.1% ABV. Riveting nose of black and blue fruits, licorice, flowers and pepper. Full bodied with notable acidity. Well balanced with just a touch of heat on the palate. Flavors of black raspberry, boysenberry and white pepper. Tremendous length on a long, almost port like finish. Not for everyone but I can pick my spots with wines like this and appreciate what is in the bottle. Drink over the next 1-2 years.

April 7, 2018 - Still well balanced and intriguing. Had the 2012 the other nite and it was even better. A keeper.

July 14, 2017 - Improvement over the 2010. Raisin, leather, black cherry. Nose is not very lively, fruity or complex, between port and leather syrup. Palate is much better, with a savory, old fashioned Zin character, rather like Sangiovese from Chianti. Finishes hot with exhausted tannin. $50, direct from the winery. Paired well with Tuscan grilled pork tenderloin. 4+9+17+5

Day 2 Inclined to lower the score. The acidity I detect is volatile.
