August 24, 2016 - I opened this not realizing it was a Pommard. It is still very young and primary; the oak is prominent, slightly masking the black cherry and chocolate flavors, and interesting herbal nuances (sage and tarragon). It's a very good wine, but would be even better 10 years down the road. This would be a good candidate for long-term cellaring.

Edit, later: with additional air, this wine is really blossoming. Fine, ripe tannins have emerged, the oak has receded, the finish has lengthened considerably, and in that finish there is a beautiful and beguiling floral component. Condorkhan is right--this is a great buy in an under-the-radar Pommard, especially at the WTSO price of $35. Load up if it comes around again.

July 3, 2016 - This is a real sleeper red Burg… I had the last bottle of this three years ago and the notes still hold, almost exactly. Beautiful nose of cherry and rotting leaves. Full bodied, cherry, earth, bloody salinity. Wish I had more bottles. This seriously kills some bottles from bigger names. I have no idea why this isn’t better known.

March 8, 2015 - I should know better by now that you're get what you pay for with sub-$30 Burgundy. This has a promising Burgundian nose with complexity and depth but on the palate it's just a bit thin and too acidic. Not unpleasant but not what I'd hoped for.
