July 29, 2022 - Poor poor value at $74. Green bell pepper and a little spice. Like a Baudry but 3x the cost.

August 15, 2020 - I found the wine lovely, it had a bit more pepper and green pepper and a bit of a bite on the tip of my tongue, than the 2011 classic black cat. I actually prefer the classic. Full disclosure, i travelled with the wine and was not able to give it my standard 3 hrs of slow-ox in a wine fridge due to being at a vrbo.

April 10, 2019 - 13.7% ABV. With air, notes of red raspberries, cassis, tobacco, licorice and a hint of sage can be readily discerned. On the palate, the wine is medium bodied, with a strong soil component along with dark fruits, herbs and gentle grip. The excellent balance and gentle extraction stand in stark contrast to many high octane, high price Cabs coming out of Napa these days. This is a considerable step up from the 2011 “regular” EMH Black Cat, which is a very fine wine in its own right. Special indeed! 94.

April 7, 2019 - Purchased from EMH 2019, perfect cork and fill. Mexium-dark ruby red to rim. Raspberry, cherry, pepper and some herbal green notes make for a nicely complex nose. Some hints of smoky oak on opening disappear after an hour or two but the other elements persist. Medium body, excellent balance with crisp acidity and still some tannins, palate follows the nose. Medium finish. Not a blockbuster, smack you in the face with ripe fruit type of wine, this is more elegant and structured like a Bordeaux, but still Napa. Should drink well for a few more years at least. Excellent.

Day 2 after a night in the fridge, this is even better. Same aromas as yesterday but the wine has filled out. More body, fuller palate with beautiful balance maintained, slightly longer finish.

January 26, 2019 - Nice nose of cassis, graphite, and some black fruit. More mineral driven than fruit. Palate shows good structure and nice fruit. Quite nice wine with med+ finish. Tasty today. Not a fruit bomb, but lovely balance.
