April 25, 2013 - Full ruby color. Nose: blackberry, black cherry, and mulberry with accents of incense, espresso, smoked bacon, lavender, peppercorn, and vanilla. Medium body on the palate: fresh black raspberry, red cherry, and blueberry framed by peppercorn, nutmeg/mace, licorice root, and cola. Medium+ acidity. Moderate tannins. Lingering peppercorn, licorice root and cola on the moderate/long finish. Vibrant, fresh berry core with attractive peppercorn and earth/wood spice accents. Excellent food Syrah. Pair with peppery pork, lamb, and Szechuan dishes. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
