May 19, 2017 - Not the best DRC but still delivering some DRC pleasure. Bottle condition was good. Dried berries, rose, sous bois and mushroom. On the palate less fruit and more tar and leather. Lacking mid palate and length but still fine melting tannins

September 23, 2016 - Nice and certainly still very alive. I liked it, others liked it considerably more than me.

August 24, 2013 - Pinot Noir Best Bottle (Zurich): Tasted blind: What a surprise, I expected this wine to be dead but to everyones surprise this wine still had some breath left. The color was not the prettiest almost cloudy. But the nose showed nice secondary flavors of prunes and malt. The taste was quite a bit a different story all dominated by acidity. This DRC is past its prime but is still drinkable. Just a caveat, once opened it fades very very fast. Drink now (or sell).

December 7, 2012 - A Birthday at Yann's (Flatiron, NYC): Very dark and cloudy, I got a ton of sediment. The nose is big and liquory; blackberry; lots of lacquer, antique furniture store. Hard to assess on the palate, as it was all sediment. Judgment reserved.

August 20, 2011 - Fill between 2 and 4 cm below capsule. Color was a dark rust red-brown. Removed cork 3 hours prior to serving and decanted 30 minutes prior. Initial bottle stink dissipated in the time the cork was removed. Initial aromas of the wine were of dried cherries, autumnal leaves, licorice, some baking spice, sous bois, and some mushroom elements. The palate was fully mature with slight tobacco, dried cherry, licorice, and a hint of tar. Some hard tannins emerge on the medium finish. They hold this wine together, but will likely never allow it to achieve better balance. Best days past, but an interesting wine if drinking for the novelty of vintage. One to serve by itself to avoid it being outshone by other things at the table. Drink.
