June 15, 2020 - Malaspina was very elegant, garnet in colour and lots of maturity notes on the nose and the palate such as cedar, gravy, wet forest, smoke and tobacco on top of the expected strawberry and raspberry.

March 14, 2013 - Chianti Classico tasting- the black rooster crows at the dawn of a new age (Allerton Hotel, Chicago IL): Nose: This has a nice and balanced nose with savory tones of licorice, herbs, cherries, and some earth tones. There is decent depth with a plush quality to the nose as well.

Taste: Medium bodied with medium+ acidity and some nice supporting tannins. The feel is plush with tones of licorice, spice, herbs, and cherries.

Overall: This is a very good Chianti Classico Riserva. There is nice depth on both the nose and palate with a slightly plush style to it.
