Community Tasting Notes 8

  • Ernestas Likes this wine: 93 points

January 29, 2023 - 2nd wine from Contador, made from Tempranillo, aged 18 months in new FR oak. Deep, nearly opaque garnet red, ruby hue. Explosive rich aroma of dried plums, blackberries, spices, incense, smoke, earth, dry wood, dry violet petals, espresso. Full body, power & structure is the key of this Rioja, so concentrated, perfumed and multilayered flavours of spiced, smoky and chocolaty black fruits. It just doesnt stop to evolve, concludes with rich finely grained tannins and endless toasted cedar, smoky and spiced finish.

  • Mark van Delft Likes this wine: 94 points

February 12, 2021 - Powerful Rioja! Cedar, black currant, prune, earthy, plum, blackberry, espresso, soft chewy tannins, graphite, full body, persistent long finish. Drink now up to 5-8 years.

July 9, 2019 - Polished, black fruit, vanilla, heavy style, too much actually, a real bomb. Figs, plums, and a lot of heat. Still, drinks smoothly. A travesty of Spanish wine.

  • Mark van Delft Likes this wine: 93 points

July 4, 2019 - Powerful yet elegant Rioja, purple cherry, black currant, herbs, espresso, soft tannins, velvety medium to full body Tempranillo, pencil shaving, soft balsamic and vanilla note, nice complexity, superb long finish

  • Vitisconcierge Does not like this wine: 85 points

October 25, 2018 - Cannot understand rest of comments here. This wine is simply quaffing wine. Thick fruit layered with 15% alcohol. No balance, finesse or complexity. Perhaps only saving grave is an interesting black fruit, inky nose.
