March 14, 2018 - Clear, medium amber Color. Fully developed nose, a bit past peak, with Aromas of Speck, smoke, some Petrol, firn, botrytis, some fruit. Complex, but certainly way past its Peak.
Off-dry, medium acidity still perfectly integrated, low alcohol. On the palate again a Melange of smoked meat, some yellow fruit, Mineral notes, some herbs, cold black tea. Balanced, soft. Medium finish. Past Peak but still joyful to drink. 88-89

March 1, 2017 - classic racy, slaty, blackcurrant scharz nez with some light floral notes. relatively full, rich for a saar, slightly sweet. elegant, fine balance, subtle flavourwith touch of ripe stone fruit lusciousness but a bit blunt; very long. good as is, pales next to 99 egon.

February 23, 2003 - Almost fluorescent medium yellow colour; light but intense 1983-nose of slate, peach, Riesling-acidity and wax with a hint of spice; on the palate elegant sweetness, relatively light weight (could have been a ripe Spätlese), juicy fruit, perfect balance, no botrytis; light but fragrant finish with good length. Completely ready.

April 1, 2001 - Intense waxy yellow, shot with gold; peach and slate, flawless, classic, intense, harmonious, no botrytis; vibrant, stylish, effortless elegance, medium weight, great finesse, perfect balance with steely acidity, very pure flavours; lovely length. At peak, a wonderful expression of terroir and vintage.

February 17, 1991 - Limpid, sunny golden colour with a green tinge; the nose needs some air to open up, nice depth, harmonious, ripe grapes, hint of honey, fruit of peach and apricot, waxy bottle-age, hint of smoke; relatively light on the palate, smooth, elegant acidity, excellent balance, well-built, delicately sweet, compact, crisp acidity, juicy and stylish; good length.
