August 2, 2023 - Light red-orange. Well-integrated red fruits with navel orange on the nose and a general sense of fruit punch. Slightly Sour red fruits with orange zest. Beautifully integrated .

August 29, 2021 - Strawberry licorice on nose at first followed by tobacco leaves, raspberry, ash and earth. Pretty, light palate with some cherry, cassis and red currant. Drinks with such easy and grace.

p.s. roasted rack of pork with cauliflower purée and charred broccolini

April 11, 2018 - Cork pristine, moderate sediment. Well preserved color with minor bricking. Needs at least 1 hour in decanter as thin and bitter initially.but transitions (interesting verb from a young sommolière) to a softer palate and a decent finish. Poor PQR.

April 8, 2018 - Vinetasters: Cornas vs. Cote Rotie (Skokie, IL): Served double blind in a flight of Cornas or Cote Rotie. New oak and Sharpie markers on the nose here. This is high-toned and slightly chemically, and shows a lot of wood. The palate, on the other hand, shows a little less offensively as the nose, though there are clearly some drying and bitter oak tannins on the finish here. There's not as much coffee on the nose, but there is definitely some on the palate. Perhaps not quite as offensive as the 1999 Tardieu-Laurent, but still not a pleasant bottle of syrah. Thing is, I'm having trouble pinpointing this one, because the palate's character is a little obscured by the oak. But given that there are more modernists on the roasted slope, I'm guessing this is a Cote-Rotie. My 10th, group's 6th.

January 5, 2018 - 1996 M. CHAPOUTIER LA MORDOREE COTE-ROTIE- I liked this bottle for its middle of the road temperament and steady course throughout; it had nice and subtle red fruit flavours with red currant most prominent carried by a medium weighted texture all the way to the back end.
