August 16, 2013 - Tasted with the winemaker. Loved the tart black fruit, tar, and juniper aromas on the nose. It's still young but already shows good balance and great structure. More of the black fruit - think black cherries and plum skins, along with notes of dusty soil, pine needles, and black pepper. Will age over the next 10 years or so, I figure. The finish was medium length and had a beautiful taper to it.

May 25, 2013 - Willamette Valley for Memorial day weekend and a peak at 2012; 5/25/2013-5/26/2013: Supposedly this vineyard was planted in 1866. I wonder how many of those original vines still stand, though. This came in at 13.8% alcohol. The aromas offer mild spice and dark fruit. This wine is fairly monolithic and straight forward throughout, offering decent palate presence and fruit, but nothing really differentiating.
