November 27, 2023 - Stunning aromatics of sesame, grilled hazelnut, citrus and vanilla. Excellent verve and precision. Leflaive’s Batard does not get much better than this.

September 7, 2023 - Flawed. Too Nutty. Burgundy Wine Company, New York. Bought on release. Shame.

March 25, 2023 - Pronounced nose intensity with noted of lemon, mineral, flora, slight pop corn, white flora and peach. High acidity and long finish. Tasted blind and did not expect it was a 1999, thought it was 2010 and younger. It show the skill of the wine maker and hence the high price of Leflaive. Truly masterclass.

March 25, 2023 - The one with Bastards (ST Home): Just when I thought the world of the Henri Boillot Batard, the next bottle brought me to greater heights. In glass, this could not have looked and nosed older than 2010. Incredible fresh with an eclectic bouquet of chrysanthemum, eucalyptus, white peaches, dried lemons and poached pears. Transitioning onto the palate, yellow flowers, meyer lemons, savoury spice and almonds shine with a good core of stone fruit and mineral base. Plenty of concentration yet not too ripe nor overpowering. When mature leflaive shines, the heavens open and angels sing. An absolutely complete wine and easily, easily the WOTN.

Friend who brought this bought a case on release and it lay in the same spot for 20 years in his cellar. Absolutely perfect provenance.

November 6, 2022 - A (Burgundy Grand Cru) Birthday Celebration (House of Nanda - Chicago IL): Double blind. I thought this much younger from a ripe-ish vintage (2008?) with lots of power and perfectly balancing structure in the near background. Slightly musty start, this kept showing more and more and more even over the 20 minutes in glass. Re-visited a few hours later, and even better then.
