December 18, 2023 - I have been up and down with some younger versions of this wine, some reworked/recorked then some re-issued bottles havent been exciting. This red label, which was decanted in 2007, was absolutely super terrific! I was shocked by the perfect Barolo markers this has where it is a dark red but clear with pink edges. With rose petals crushed brick and remnants of fertilizer, tar, asphalt, awashed with cherries, and forest berries. This also had plenty of tertiary traits like age tobacco, antique furniture store, may have had some pretty baking spices as well. This was a perfect Barolo in a perfect place.

December 8, 2023 - Eugene's birthday: Some debate if it was corked at first but thought it was a combination of the musty old wine smell and the box that the restaurant glasses were kept in. Took time to come into balance, but this was so harmonious and effortless after an hour with soft, slightly sweet tannins. Amazing example of an aged Barolo.

November 21, 2023 - Unreal clarity. An intense crystalline cherry aroma introduces this bottle. Added pine needles and little tar too. Great cherry attack with cured meat, roses, and then a beautiful charred characteristic on the finish.

November 11, 2023 - Stood up ten days prior to opening. Decanted for five hours. Ullage of 5cm. Cork extracted in one piece and fine condition. Showing every one of its 62 years as it pours a pale tawny with exceptional clarity. Aromas of dried, almost baked tar as the summer sun beats down on the road, a feint hint of beef consommé, campfire smoke, and dried almost decayed red and purple flowers. A fully resolved, texturally smooth palate awaits with noteworthy concentration and ample acidity providing freshness and lift. Finishes with a touch of lightly charred red meat.

January 14, 2023 - For its age in fine fettle, holding together well over a couple + hours. Faded colour, of course. Savoury, warm brick & leather, hedgerow elements; medicinal, is that some briary fruit? More than enough presence & stuffing right through to a finish of some substance. Every chance will remain alive for a few more years.
