Community Tasting Notes 5

May 2, 2020 - Ripe apples, ripe pears, Meyer lemon. Dried herbs, white pepper. Medium+ bodied and medium acidity. This has held up exceptionally well over 8 years. Paired it with sausage pasta in a light cream sauce which was perfect.

December 23, 2018 - Crisp and dry. Pepper on the nose and palate for me. Great with food.

June 9, 2016 - Bright and fresh. Loads of mineral and a suggestion of musk. Good intensity. Nice texture and a long finish.

February 8, 2014 - Lovely with a fresh and vibrant nose full of lemon zest, subtle lemon grass and a whiff of lime curd. The palate follows through nicely with the same crispy and crystal clear tones as initially found in the nose. The acidity is striking but still embedded in a very nice fruit. Overall impression is very positive.

June 19, 2013 - Terry Theise Austrian/German tasting (Milwaukee Athletic Club): Speigel, Stein, and Rosenberg. A clean and pure Gruner.

From Wagram, which used to be a beach. here, loess, wind-blown silt, after the ice age, but before vegetation.

Gruner likes rich soils aka clay, loam, loess. Riesling likes lean soils, pure rock.
