Community Tasting Notes 11

February 15, 2021 - dark yellow color, too much oxidation to enjoy. Discarded, next.

August 7, 2020 - Color certainly is deepening along with the unique richness of 'yellow' stone fruit. Not too much butterscotch yet, but definitely aging in that direction. Paired wonderfully with dry rubbed chicken roast.

June 24, 2017 - Still doing well. Tropical fruits, merengue, somewhat buttery, but acidity and fruit are still doing well. Still one of my fav sites for chards. Not over the top in terms of intensity.

June 4, 2016 - Nose of tropical fruit, lemon meringue, butterscotch and crushed rock. Classic Hawk Hill on on the nose. On the palate this is pure California with big flavors of butterscotch, papaya, mango, lemon and ends with a nice mineral and buttered popcorn note that extends through the 30-35 second finish. Previous taster mentioned this is on it's last legs but they either had a bad bottle or do not like this style of wine. The Hawk Hill bottling was always the biggest of their Chardonnay's although it's still not nearly as big as say a Dumol or Aubert. Shame they don't make it anymore because it was always my favorite.

April 4, 2016 - Saw the previous tasting note and decided to drink this up. Glad I did, or I might have been disappointed had I waited a little longer. As it is, this wine is probably a bit past its peak but still drinking well. Color is darkening. Modest nose, on the palate nicely balanced, proper acidity, medium-to-full bodied. Nice finish...glad I didn't wait until summer. Drink up!
