  December 24, 2016 - On pouring there is a strong aroma of blackcurrant bud with underlying cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry. Despite six years of age there is still plenty of fruitiness here. Without decanting the wine is fairly approachable though with a firm tannin grip. After a couple of hours in the decanter though the wine softens nicely. I have a few more of these and will probably drink most of it fairly soon, maybe holding a couple back for five years to see how it develops in the long term. The only thing which stopped me pushing my rating into 'outstanding' category is the length, and perhaps a lack of complexity. Even so, this is one lovely, fruity, balanced, enjoyable wine.
