December 1, 2023 - Portland Paulee (Oregon Historical Society, Portland OR): Well, this is certainly a controversial wine. I've been hesitant to open this for a long time due to the amount of greenie meanie comments I've seen. Was that here? Well, kinda. The green flavors didn't overpower and its entirely possible that I was looking for them. What I can for sure say is that I have had this wine in my possession since 2007 and this is a wine that is really on the downslope (or at least this bottle was). The acidity is a bit bitter and the tannins are still a bit chalky while the Medium bodied feel is lighter and lacks on the mid-palate. It's faded a bit now and while enjoyable on the $50 level I paid for it many years back, Roumier didn't weave any magic on this with the vintage and I'm glad that I didn't pay the current going rate for this.

August 29, 2023 - My last bottle of a bad wine from a poor vintage by a great producer. Purchased on release for $50, wish I’d bought a case or 2. Aside from a short finish, there’s nothing lacking here. Prolly near peak, could go a few more years for those willing to take a risk

May 7, 2023 - Firm structure, with quite a bit of tannin and acid on the palate, balanced out with nice weight and pretty aromatics. Drinking really well, but definitely built for the long haul!

September 28, 2021 - I know people like to complain about the green flavor situation on the 04's from the ladybugs and whatnot, but this is quite nice and drinking well. Solid value by Roumier standards I think.

May 8, 2021 - Tasted blind. Cloudy and a bit funky, cherry red. Wonderful candies sour fruit on the palate, fine tannins and loads of acidity. Delicious but I would have never guessed that Ponsot makes such “dirty” wines.

(Roumier Georges Morey St.Denis Clos de la Bussière) The nose offers up the 04 'vintage characteristic' - [Christophe agrees that there were ladybugs everywhere but is unconvinced that they are responsible, though has seen no plausible alternative. On the positive side he quips 'at least you always know the vintage in a blind tasting!'] - it provides a cover, but not on such a level that it spoils the red fruit aromas. Only medium concentration after the 2005, this is altogether on a softer, less 'big' level. The entry is quite narrow but the width comes as you head for the mid-palate then leaves your mouth slowly watering in the finish. The tannins stick a little to your gums and the overall balance is very nice. This is very tasty. Christophe: "It never tastes/feels like it smells - I like it for that"
