January 31, 2024 - Deep inky purple color. Aromas of plum, prune, blackberry, meat, tobacco, earth. High alcohol 15,5 is well incorporated, medium acidity, silky tannins. Wine is dense and intense with taste of plum, dark cherry, coffee, spices. Long. In very good shape.

July 11, 2021 - (Drank on family meeting celebrating that we al got our full vaccinations... notes recorded afterwards.) From magnum; alive and kicking. Probably at peak, but no hurry (at least not if you've got properly stored magnums 😁) Dark Bordeaux color and rim. Dark chocolate, coffee, spices and candied and stewed fruits in the nose. good body, dark chocolate, stewed dark fruits. Big abv (15.5) does not feel out of balance. More spices (cinnamon, Bay leaf) and cacao nibs good length. Had different vintages of Montus at different (younger) ages, but this was spot on. Was a bit disappointed by some 6 to 10 year olds... did not think it would really shine with more age. But this is spot on!

April 28, 2021 - Sipping on it's own while heating up some leftovers - it was fantastic. Deep dark fruit, tannins softened up, plenty of structure. Tried it with my leftover sausage/peppers/onions, thinking that would be rustic enough to work with the wine ... and no, it just brought out the heat. Sealed up the rest of the bottle, maybe we'll get some steak on the menu this weekend, which should be a better match. Either way, I really like these wines, I've only had samples from a few scattered vintages, really wish I could find more locally on release ...

November 16, 2020 - Entering a very nice age for this wine. Purple and black fruits, some meaty notes and graphite in the middle, a hint of lavender, good tannic structure but not harsh at this age. This is better closer to cellar temp than at room temp. A nice reward for patience with a modestly priced wine.

July 20, 2019 - Needed careful decanting as it had thrown a lot of sediment. Still a deep colour, though. A very agreeable and well-balanced wine, despite the claimed 15.5% alcohol (!). Fully mature, but I don't think there's any hurry to drink it.
