November 6, 2015 - Ridge Wine Vertical Dinner (Los Angeles, CA): Holds up quite nice! Surprising body given the age.

December 3, 2014 - 1980s Ridge Jimsomare Vertical: Super pretty nose, round and rich with lots of dense chewy fruit. Lovely balance in the mouth, fresh acid, tons of integration with fruit and all aspects in the mouth. Balance and freshness are the hallmarks of this wine. Nose lifts with sweetness and tobacco, cedar, baking spice and some herbal elements, seems the most bdx to me when compared to others in the flight.

March 11, 2012 - Very perfumed currant, tobacco, capsicum, dark berry nose becoming more intense and showing a bit more oak with aeration along with a mushroomy beefy cedar thing. Unfortunately there's just not a lot of cohesion and harmony on the palate; the components are all there and I'm sure this would pass as a nice 80s Bordeaux but everything is a bit out of sync and it shows. Pretty good.

July 22, 2010 - Medium red, with some purple still. Aromas of milk, mixed chaparral, black currants (strong fruit), cigar, hint of dill. Smooth and supple in the mouth. A nice American oak backdrop for a generously-fruited cabernet, very harmonious. Very ripe for the vineyard, yet svelte, not fat. Finishes a little short. We pulled this when the Montelena '86 showed so very poorly and we are happy again. Bottle #2 of two.

July 10, 2009 - Blind tasting at Mark's (Chicago): Still super dark. Shows some oak on the nose with coffe and oaky notes. Nice leather and bell pepper components. Pichon Lalande style.
Balanced but could still use a little more years.
