September 1, 2016 - Smooth and silky at this point. Moderate red berry and subtle earth on the medium to full body. Soft tannins and a lengthy finish.

January 13, 2016 - Definitely a more Bordeaux style than California. Has 13.8% abv and a nose and palate dominated more by earth, spice, and sour black fruit. Well made and still a little too tannic/acidic to pop and pour.

May 1, 2015 - Aromas of black fruit that opened up to some dark cherry, vanilla and caramel. nicely balance. Was expecting more of a bold fruit finish. Was definitely a little more restrained; nice acidity and tannin to finish - medium finish. Having a hard time determining how much I like it.

March 21, 2014 - I have been drinking Pickberry for years and this vintage is one of my favorite so far. I believe the blend was Merlot and Cab Franc, unusual for this vineyard. Clearly Californian, but much more bordeauxish than previous vintages. There is a firm structure and the fruit is more restrained than over the top (but it is there). I can't wait to see how this will develop over time. Can enjoy now with 3+ hr decant.

December 19, 2013 - Blind Tasting - California Reds: A darker ruby-purple color. Dark aromatics of caramel and brown sugar on top of plums, charcoal, violets, bell pepper and smoke. Grippy on the palate, with firm tannins and flreshy fruit. Mushroom and leather notes mix with the black cherry and blackberry fruit. A blend of 53% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Cab Franc and 2% Malbec. Aged 20 months in 40% new French oak.
