January 25, 2023 - Branaire Ducru Vertical (The Market Brasserie at the Intercontinental at the O2, London): Subtle green bell pepper here with some beefiness and a little smoky tea. This is delightful but very softly spoken. Not sure how it would wow people in an '85 horizontal but on its own and with some contemplation a charming mature wine.

September 6, 2021 - Medium garnet with significant browning fading edges. Fairly strong clove and cinnamon aromas as well as developed ripe red cherry. Softened tannins, and generally developed savoury flavours, whilst having tart yet ripe red cherry, and dried grass. Quite a good length but seems slightly lacking in complexity, perhaps a wine that is slipping over the hill

October 15, 2019 - Bought this at an auction rummage sale. Obliterated label and slightly raised cork - but this bottle was so tasty. Decanted for 40 mins and every sip offered the classic left bank notes - musty with great fruit, tannins and earth. Surprised at performance considering age and vintage - it punched way above its weight.

August 15, 2019 - Same as my previous note. Lovely nose but the palate is dry and green. Drink up.
