Community Tasting Notes 8

July 4, 2014 - Due to having moved myself and my wine cellar to a different time zone, this is being drunk a year past my estimate of drink time, but still quite delicious. Perhaps has gone past its peak from 2011/12/13, but definitely still outstanding. Still the characteristic tobacco and cherry nose that presents a very happy entry into this wine. The palate is chewy, spicy, with a perhaps shorter flavor length than the last bottle. Really nice hit of acid on the mid-palate that balances the big fruit component. Has an extended unctuous rounded ending that keeps on giving.

August 3, 2012 - Another excellent bottle, with a big tobacco and cherry nose. Chewy, dark palate with spice, pepper and more tobacco. More acidity than I recall, which does a good job of balancing the big fruit. Modest tannins. I'm going to move the drink date to next year, because this still is doing great, and no need to drink up my last bottles this year. Could easily last a lot longer.

January 6, 2011 - Big cigar box nose, almost unbelievable. The palate is chewy, with tobacco and pepper and spice. Modest acidity and modest tannins.

April 6, 2009 - Tobacco and cherry on the nose. The palate is chewy, again tobacco notes, spice, pepper notes. Delicious.

December 23, 2007 - Wish I had bought more. Cherry, plum, green pepper, nice texture, good balance. Drink it now if you've got it, it won't get better.
