April 28, 2022 - Bought a case of this on release and drank my way through it quickly, saving just this bottle as a curiosity to see how it might age. The early bottles were all reliably rich and full-fruited, absolutely delicious, lush and luxuriant. Tucked away for twenty years, it is still darkly colored with entirely secondary character, less fruit-forward, darker fruit, more spice and soil tones. Compared to burgundy? The first several bottles were comparable to fresh young ‘03 burgs. Now, like a secondary character 1er Cru from ‘98-‘01. Can’t say it’s better or worse with age. But this showed me they can be very good at age 20 (and surely more).
