Community Tasting Notes 6

May 15, 2013 - Hope against hope at 12 years. But big surprise, a berry nose that transformed within minutes. Wild herbs on the nose and a palate of freshly crushed blackberry juice. In the first hour cherry notes asserted, along with the abundant but balanced alcohol, leading to what tasted like a perverse but yummy cocktail of kirschwasser mixed with black tea and a splash of muddled black cherry. Now at a couple of hours, rose & raspberry are showing. Cant wait to see if it holds up tomorrow. Totally unexpected from a 12 year old Paso. Kudos, Cris!

August 20, 2011 - Black cherry, spicy notes. Still quite good. Wow, the headache the next day though.

November 25, 2010 - Still good. Cherry fruit, spicy. Served with Thanksgiving dinner.

August 10, 2008 - This bottle showed very well, perhaps enhanced by the fact that it was drunk at VC restaurant. Rich black cherry and fig with chocolate, mineral and pine notes all balancing the dark fruit. This wine is at peak with smooth mouthfeel and integrated tannins.

August 18, 2006 - Notes from memory: This is drinking at perfection. I didn't get any of the pruney notes that Raj got...must be a bit of bottle variation. The black fruit, spice and acid were in perfect balance. Nice long finish of spice and bitter chocolate.
