Community Tasting Notes 4

January 7, 2017 - lively and lemony with a great background of minerals. Classy wine that can wait for a few years too. Went great with a home made paella

February 24, 2015 - Deep yellow colour. Some oak but intense fruit(peach). Great concentration and quality. Good lenght. Great wine. This reminds me of mature oaked burgundy.

August 6, 2014 - Greeny gold colour. Fruity nose of peaches and cream which is very inviting. The palate has more crunch and acidty than the nose suggest with unripe nectarine, gooseberry coming through initially but a lovely mouth cloying richness to it too which helps it linger in the mouth longer after its swallowed. Excellent

May 18, 2014 - Fermented and aged in new oak. Essentially this is a fresh, mineral, floral and citric wine. And then there is the oak. The extra "gras" from the ageing on the lees adds weight and flavour and is attractive, but even though the wine is expertly made, I am not convinced that new oak and Alvarinho are a match made in heaven. The harmony is better than in the recently tasted Carvalhais Encruzado, but I am not really sure what the wine and the oak actually do for each other. The quality is undeniable but I doubt that this is the way to go with Alvarinho (89). After a night in the fridge, the oak is less marked and it seems more integrated; there is now also a note of ripe, peachy fruit that acts as a liaison. Perhaps the wine needs a few more years. I will give it the benefit of the doubt (90).
