January 12, 2017 - Decanted. A slight hint of yeast on opening gave way to a decent nose of tangerine, blackcurrant and wet stone. on the pallet the wine was smooth and full bodied with black fruit and lemon in the center. Finish was short and disappointing.

November 15, 2016 - PnP. Black cherry, boysenberry, blueberry, garrigue aromas with some heat. One of us commented on a raisin note. On the palate this is smooth with medium acid and medium- tannin leaving fruit and a mouthwatering finish. The body is light to medium, and filling in some 30 minutes after opening. Color is deep purple fading to a red-purple edge. Legs and sweetness. Served with dinner of sauteed shrimp and tomatoes with roasted sweet potatoes, broccoli and carrots on the side. With the shrimp and tomatoes the fruit steps forward. With the vegetables the acid steps forward more with the fruit still present. The tannin is not very noticeable with the food.

September 2, 2016 - Noticeably dense, tight-fitting cork--fortunately short! Dense garnet. Enveloping aromas--meat and deep purple fruit. Medium body. Integrated tannins. Maybe a tiny bit on the low-acid side. Nice bottle.

August 31, 2016 - Italian wine night for ten people, the wines were opened about 30 minutes before the dinner start time and them poured one at a time, so that the last wine was open for over an 90 minutes before drinking. We had in order: 2012 Azienda Agricola Montevertine Toscana, 2009 Montepeloso Eneo, 2012 Passopisciaro Sicilla, 2000 Azelia Barolo Bricco Fiasco, 2006 Paolo Bea Rosso di Veo, 2007 Fattoria Galardi Terra di Lavoro Roccamonfina, and the 2012 Montalbera Ruche di Castagnole Monferrato L'Accento.

I actually didn't get to try this one, but most of the group really liked it. I don't understand the 99 point rating given it, but it is a great QRP if you can find it for under $20 (as I did).

July 16, 2016 - Aromas of orange peel and red berries, with floral notes and flavors. Paired beautifully with bison burritos. Nice wine.
