June 16, 2014 - Tom & Tami's French and California Extravaganza: Blind. Guessed California. Bummer, light TCA and it was my bottle. Interestingly it looked like it stripped the color from the wine. Too bad because I really like this vintage and it would have held it's own in the line up. I'm not marking this as flawed since there will be multiple tasting notes for the single bottle.

June 14, 2014 - Chardonnay Blind--CA and France @ Tom Moore's Place (Tom's House): Damn TCA. Corked. Too bad, as this wine I expected to stand in and compete well with the CA/French lineup we had assembled.

May 24, 2014 - Wanted a CA chard tonight, this one came to mind. Earlier this year, I drank one of these where we enjoyed it then at a dinner we arranged for the winery big cheese, Samantha. She's worked hard on her wines and they continue to get better each year. Open about 45 mins with a moderate chill. As I have said before, I thought the 2011 was a little too oaky for me, this 2012 is not and the shift Sam made shows. A bit of lemony creaminess lives in the wine, yet, it's balanced by some crisp acidity and a clean and crisp finish of lime skin, lemony mineral, rainwater and mix of yellow and green apple. Delicious. Look forward to buying the 2013s.

January 19, 2014 - POE Wines - Winemaker's Dinner with Samantha Sheehan (The Loft @ The Montage - Laguna Beach, CA): Wasn't a fan of the '11 as it was a much bigger fruit forward and heavy wine. Wow, is this year impressive! As FMIII notes, there were some cooperage changes and they definitely have an extremely positive effect. Chris S is my Chardonnay guru and when I saw him asking for the bottle I knew he liked it as much as I did. I think everyone liked this wine. Nose of apple and nectarine. Medium plus acid drives this wine. Fruit flavors are ripe pear and yellow apple. Medium length finish and very clean. Bam!
