Community Tasting Notes 2

October 28, 2015 - Dark, somewhat translucent black cherry color. Very currant-driven nose that at first feels more like Sauvignon Blanc than anything red wine-related with aromas of currant leaves, chili and cooked bell peppers. Slowly darker-toned aromas of blackcurrant jam, smoke, ripe cherries and lighter hints of chocolatey oak start to emerge. The wine is full-bodied, somewhat soft and sweet-toned on the palate with ripe flavors of plum jam, cooked bell peppers, ripe blackcurrants, some cherry marmalade, a little bit of sweet oak spice, a hint of mocha and a touch of leafy herbaceous character. The wine is lacking a bit in structure with its somewhat modest tannins and medium acidity. The finish is somewhat bitter and lacking a bit in length due to the modest acidity. There are medium-long flavors of ripe blackcurrants, overripe dark fruits, a little bit of cherry marmalade, light spicy tones, a hint of chocolate and a touch of jammy red fruits.

Meh. I'm not sure if this wine just suffered from warm serving temperature or if this was less impressive than the previous vintages I've had. This is definitely not the worst offender in the frame of ripe Chilean reds, but I've gotten used to that this wine being a bit higher in acidity with less sweet fruit. Now this was much more similar to your run-of-the-mill Chilean Cab blend. Quite uninteresting as a whole.

June 16, 2015 - beautiful fruity assemblage, with hints of spices and some minerality. smooth tannins, round, goes very well with food.
