May 16, 2016 - Big and dark !!! But no fruit and no fun at all !!! This was a sad requiem !! Had this much better 2 years ago !, hopefully a dull phase ??? Will wait at least 2 years !! Next in 2018 ! Keep fingers crossed

January 17, 2016 - Incredible power and concentration for a 13 year old wine. Big nose of espresso, coffee beans, plum, bacon fat, raspberry liqueur, bittersweet chocolate. Rose petal and lavender coming out with time. Similar on the palate, with some black olive and coulis emerging too. Very fresh and rich finish, tannins well resolved. Would never have guessed older St. Joseph, possibly learner Gigondas or CDP from a good producer. Regardless, an excellent wine if you appreciate it stylistically and keep the vintage in mind.

April 6, 2014 - Tasted blind. Very ripe, dusty tannins. Dark fruit, velvety texture. The vintage is apparent. No rush to drink but to my palate too ripe.

March 29, 2014 - APPEARANCE: clear; deep ruby, medium legs & tears
NOSE: clean; pronounced intensity; flavour characteristics: prune, plum, blackberry, black cherry, red cherry, bramble, white pepper, sweet spice, liquorice, forest floor; developing
PALATE: dry; high acidity; full body; medium+ tannin (fine grained); high alcohol; long finish; pronounced flavour intensity; flavour characteristics: as per nose: prune, plum, liquorice, blackberry, white pepper, forest floor, mint
READINESS FOR DRINKING: can drink now, but has potential for ageing
FURTHER REMARKS: Outstanding wine. What a concentration and vitality for a wine that is already more than 10 years old! Beautiful complexity, close to the summit of what can be achieved with Syrah. Despite the very dominant components to work with, a good balance is achieved. Plenty of time to drink if you have any.
