October 15, 2023 - No harsh acids that I sometimes find in these wines when too young, this is now perfectly smooth and transparent. Light pinot character with a touch of milk chocolate, red fruits, herbs. There is a slight dryness on the back finish but it’s not really disturbing. I suspect this will drink well for a long time.

May 14, 2023 - Good stuff and drinking pretty well right now; red fruits with a bit of plum, earthy with tobacco and some herb hints and purple floral notes; the palate is still pretty structured, but still has good balance; definitely needs food at this point, but seems like it is in its early drinking window.

November 8, 2022 - A very nice condition, beautiful color. A slight bit of age on the nose with no harsh notes, lovely perfumy smell. The taste was gentle and enticing a very pleasant and satisfying bottle of wine.

January 25, 2021 - Dark ruby beginning to brick, still somewhat reduced, ripe dark cherry, smoke, saline finish, plenty of tannin, excellent power and balance. Needs a few more years but great potential.

Day 2, reduction gone, tannins consolidated into a bitter, stemmy spine. Big step back.

Day 3 Much better, nose open for business, sweet dark red fruit with an orange zest finish. This one is going places. Hold.

December 30, 2020 - Volnay, Pommard & CdB 1er Cru (Chicago): Double blind. Smoky red cherry, raspberry and floral aromas. Juicy and very crisp on the palate. Mid-weight with lots of acid and showing mature. I was guessing 96 at first, when told much younger i went to 08, shocked to see this was a 2012 as it showed both older and leaner. Revisited a few hours later and the nose had picked up some intensity though the palate was still lacking the fruit fleshiness I'd expect from this wine in this vintage.
