April 17, 2022 - Still alive and with bright light red color, but well past its prime. Enjoyable for its premiere cru Beaune tight red fruit but a bit too much acid right now.As it mellowed after 15 minutes, so too did the darker red fruits fade. Drink up.

August 12, 2020 - Delightful: “What the doctor ordered,” as my wife noted, A perfect summer Burgundy with some grilled poultry. And so ready just now. A first greeting with light ruby, very typical high-end Beaune characteristics, and on the palate, high-toned bright red fruit, a pretty cherry-led nose, full acid-balance; and plenty on the palate of cherry, raspberry and smoky earth. No decant needed, though we did for 30 minutes.

October 12, 2019 - High energy, bright red fruit and a true Cote de Beaune acid-backed nose make for an. absolutely delightful bottle-- with 60-75 minutes of double decanting. Coming-out of a light retreat, this exuberant wine shows the higher-toned side of refinement. A bit less corpulent than a Chambolle or Vosne, but marking its territory--and terroir- with red currant, raspberry, menthol, nettle and a wonderful acid backbone that brings the level of excitement to the fore. Some criticize Vougeraie for excess oak; this might have displayed some two years ago but the residue is barely noticeable now. These will keep for 10 years but are accessible now with prepare decant.

September 15, 2018 - Evolving nicely, this now very true Beaune 1ere showcases a wonderful, perfumed assortment of high- toned red fruit with a nice fruit undertone, delivering an easily likable, fresh and satisfying bottle. The fleshy,slightly- oak infused sense of a year ago is now gone, and with a short breathing time (30 minutes), the red currant, bright cherry, raspberry, and woody flavors in the palate mix together nicely with that deceptively pale Beaune hue. The next couple of years should deliver crisp, delineated fruit and and nice acid balance

July 13, 2017 - The Vougeraie wines are often so delicious when younger and have the stuffing to last thorough a serious development later. this 2102 showed some pronounced cherry/strawberry fruit untethered by excess acids and thus was a welcome arrival. Voluptuous viscosity and a very pretty medium to dark red robe. But there was, at this stage, a bit too much of the strawberry/cherry stew without enough forest or earth flavors. It would appear from prior vintages that this is just a question of time before some withdrawal and the emergence of more complexity and depth .
