Community Tasting Notes 2

September 12, 2014 - The wine is clear, star bright, deep gold, high concentration, no evidence of gas or sediment, viscosity is high. On the nose, it is clean, with moderate intensity, youthful, showing lots ripe oranges, papaya, mango, and grapefruit. There is also a distinct note of petroleum (reminiscent of Riesling), coupled with roasted almonds, toast, and honey. Bortrytis and oak is evident. On the palate, very sweet, medium+ body, confirms the nose, lots of ripe blood oranges, papaya, mango, grapefruit and orange peel. Honey, marmalade toast, roasted almonds, and oak is also displayed. Bortrytis. Medium acidity, medium alcohol, medium+ finish, and complexity is medium. This wine has an interesting character, and is slightly more complex and intense than the Concha y Toro Late Harvest Sauvignon Blanc 2009 which I had earlier. I rate it 91 points.

October 18, 2013 - "2014" Sydney International Wine Show - stewarding notes; 10/13/2013-10/18/2013 (Blue Mountains, NSW): {375ml, screwcap, 11%} Somewhat developing nose of aromatic muscat/pot-pourri/rosewater. With a citric twist. The palate has light orange/tangerine flavours; it’s light-bodied, medium-dry, and manages to convey an autumnal botrytis character without weight, probably helped by fresh medium acidity. Drink with a fruit salad. Medium-length finish. Not sure it’s got the structure to age though.
