January 22, 2015 - Deep, limpid red. Explosive bouquet of candied violets, bacon fat, cherry liquor, cocoa, and chalk. Rich and mouth filling, the full body masking the tannins until they emerge slightly at the finish. Shows the fullness of the 2012 vintage. There is a slight bitter note on the finish, for which I take off a point or two. This is an extremely enjoyable wine.
