April 27, 2024 - SangioFest, Volume III "It's my favourite spot" (Chicago, IL): A bunch of us got to talking last night about Biondi-Santi -- while the wines are always highly respectable and good, there's never been one that blows me away the way a Poggio di Sotto, Cerbaiona, or Soldera can. This definitely falls into that same bucket -- it's an impressive wine with a powerful, stern structure, but there's just a bit of charm lacking from this. It's powerful, weighty, and leathery, but it's missing that extra element of charm. Likely better in two decades.

June 3, 2023 - These are beautiful with age and 97 Riserva wines are ALWAYS a treat. Such a powerful vintage in general, and this wine had a lot of leather, figs, dates. A vintage that is holding quite well although in the next 5 years I do see these getting even darker and maybe even developing some nitrogenous decline, but Biondi Santi is an insane producer of too quality and it would not surprise me if this one held for another 20-30 years. Black pepper finish on the back, quite substantial for sure. My rec personally would be to drink these now and enjoy every sip with great food and company!

December 31, 2022 - Bought this wine at the winery in 2001. Kept in cellar. Opened Christmas 2022. 25 years old. Advised by Mr. Biondi Santi 100 year wine. Opened at 25 years. Cork crumbled into bottle. Decanted with filter. At first very pale and dusty. After 20 minutes started getting deeper color and more fruit on palate. Constantly changed over 90 minutes. Light fruit to deeper fruit and color deepened. Quite interesting. After 90 minutes started degrading. I think this wine is ready now and will not get better. Interestin

September 19, 2022 - Very pretty aromatics, big, dark, bold and structured. Youthful and fairly primary still, with good acidity and a fair amount of tannin. Drinking well today with a bit of air, but the structure here suggests this wine will only continue to improve over the next 5-10 years and beyond.
