December 12, 2023 - The wine has aged as expected. It is still complex but has lost some of its fruit. I would say it is now getting far along the down slope. It is pleasant but no longer able to compare to wines of equal quality that are still at or near peak. The nose was light and the depth missing again due to age. It has become more off a front porch wine than a dinner wine at this point.

September 5, 2023 - Leather, perfume, cassis. Dried blackberry. Deep purple floral potpourri. Acidity is still so fresh. Stunning at 37 years old. Tannin structure still here and acidity can probably still carry this 10 more years. Old school Napa, showing a lot of class. The best birthyear wine I’ve had so far in my life.

February 27, 2022 - 1986 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon Cask 23. Light-mid ruby, brick/amber edges: some viscosity (13.1 alc.); red fruit, herbaceous, light mint, cassis and leather nose; low-acids; low-mid tannins; a little past its prime; decent fruit still; wonderful Cabernet flavor; a little short. 17 UC Davis scale, 92 other scales.

August 29, 2019 - Nose of wet forest floor, black cherry, red cherry, and saddle leather, same on the palate, big body, very tasty, mouth filling fruit, lovely fruit, starting to show it's age, time to enjoy is now, and a long, flavorful finish.
