    June 24, 2021 - Meursault (Northside) 1er Cru vs Village, Mostly Blind (The Moll House - Chicago IL): Slightly sweet with lemon and orange flesh and peel, also showing figs, coffee, toffee, and walnuts. Good length and good balance with plenty of brightening acidity throughout.

    February 3, 2016 - Madeira Pilgrimage; 2/1/2016-2/4/2016 (Madeira): Whoa, holy volatile acidity! Smells of some crazy varnished wood, white tea, and orange marmalade. Spicy and tangy, this wine holds the VA well. Very fresh, almost tastes dry for a Bual. I get nutty and coffee notes followed by polished wood, baked pear, cinnamon spice. The finish is long and complex. Amazing how Madeira can turn make volatile acidity seem so damn attractive.

    December 13, 2015 - Madeira and Champagne (Chicago, IL): Bottle 479/920. Bottled June 2013. Initial impression: Surprisingly, this isn't particularly sweeter than the verdelho. Instead, this takes on a darker tone in comparison to the other Barbeitos in this lineup. Here, the citrus takes on more of a pomelo character, and the acidity seems to have been toned down just a slight bit. There's a touch of coffee on the palate as well that gives this its darker tone.
