Community Tasting Notes 22

May 5, 2020 - Pretty consistent with my note from 2018. Didn’t get the alcohol note this time. Drinking very well and has easily 10 years to go.

May 27, 2018 - Brandied cherries, herbs / thyme, cedar. Light bodied, in between CA and Burgundy. Relatively high acid

April 22, 2018 - Of the Fionas we have tried, I would rate the 2012 the most favorable at this point. Seems like an optimum maturity at this point, nicely resolved, lush, ripe plummy fruit, velvety, very approachable but thoughtful.

February 7, 2018 - Fragrant nose of raspberry, pomegranate, red berries, and herbs. Medium+ tannins with ripe red fruit and good acidity on the palate. A bit of heat is noticeable, maybe a tick less alcohol would’ve benefited the wine. Nice finish. Overall a really nice RRV Pinot. Wife: 94

December 21, 2017 - Decanted and let breathe for 50 mins. Beautiful nose. Cherries, thyme, and plenty of earthiness and clay. The palate follows the nose, except that the earthiness is even more pronounced. If tasted blindly, I might have said OR, not CA. I wish I had more, so as to see how this ages.
