April 1, 2014 - Working with wine 2014 seminar 1 - Rhone varieties (Sofitel, Sydney): Medium plus intensity aromas of sweet oak, vanilla, spice, then some perfumed peppery notes over slightly jammy black fruit tending to prune and raisin and hints of olive. In the mouth the wine is savoury but has touches of residual sugar and flavours of black fruit and plum tending to prune. There are thick and chewy, tough but ripe tannins and some alcohol warmth on the long finish. Good quality warm climate? Nice but worked.
