  April 9, 2024 - Burnt sugar, marzipan, tequila (honestly!) aromas. Quite light and fine compared to other madeiras. Rich marmalade and nutty palate. Very drinkable. This is one of Barbeito's entry level bottlings and already excellent

  April 6, 2024 - Tasted with Munster cheese and cumin. The cumin unfortunately had lost some of its punch, the cheese+Madeira combi was good but not outstanding. The wine could have had a riper, oakier taste. The better combi was Madeira and Roquefort! Sweetness of the wine contrasts the strong saltines off the aged cheese. You taste a lot behind the sugar in the wine. Pretty good!
  Two days later: Also a good match for pasta with creamy cheese sauce. Increase from 80 to 82.

  September 1, 2022 - A private dinner (Restaurant The Lobby Fizeaustraat, Hotel V, Amsterdam, NL): Elegant, intense, medium sweet, firm acidity, lively and juicy, candied fruit and honey, orange, salty, firm acidity, lovely intensity and length.

  December 23, 2020 - Hazelnut and orange peel nose. Burnt sugar and dried apricot on the front of the palate with a dry finish. This medium-dry Madeira is delicious with dessert, cheese or pretty much whenever.

  November 26, 2016 - HWS Game dinner 2016 (@ RvD): Caramel, tangerine, a lot of sweetness and also a firm amount of acidity. Sweet but also dry. Full bodied and an enormous length. This type of wine is always special.
