February 27, 2011 - From the Black Russian Vertical tasting at McGregor Vineyard (2011): Slightly bitter or sour finish. Paired well with creamy side dishes, which mellowed out that sour aftertaste. Not a sipping wine.. I think dishes with melted cheese sauces will work very well. <pork w/ gorgonzola sauce>

June 19, 2010 - I am cursing myself for not taking notes on this one, because I try to do so whenever I open the Black Russians. Here we are weeks later and all I remember that I liked it a lot. Fat lot of good that does you? Sorry 'bout that.

December 12, 2009 - Decanted for 30 min. The bouquet was very light, unlike a lot of the Black Russians that I have had. Just hints of berries and not much else. The taste was bright berries and cherries. The wine is surprisingly tannic, but not in a bad way. It seemed quite well balanced, and while I was not crazy about it before dinner, it went with steak very well, and was quite pleasant after dinner. I am glad that I have a lot more in the cellar.
