April 26, 2024 - Faded. We decanted for 20 minutes, then sipped just before dinner was served. Mushroom-y nose, a bit off, thin cherry fruit. Taste was similar. I grabbed an emergency CDP just in case …

Redemption with the meal. We Ian-grilled steaks Glorentine style, and the brunello came to life. Still some mushroom on the nose, but the fruit emerged on the palate: ripe cherries, plums, berries. Enough tannins and acidity to hold up against the rich meat

Do not wait - this wine is nearing its shelf life.

January 27, 2024 - Intense nose with soy and raisins, quite portlike. Really powerful rich and big but tasty, very savoury but also sweet fruit. A pretty long finish with fine tannins. Modern and not much sangiovese here, so dont expect a lot of elegance, but anyway fun to taste again.

December 24, 2023 - So so good. Christmas Eve dinner just paired nicely with the entire meal. Really really different Bonello. Enjoyed it immensely tannins smoothed out but still there providing a bit of body to the wine fruit and terroir nicely blended. Just enjoyed it.

December 1, 2023 - Decanted for an hour then poured back into the bottle to serve.

This is just how you want a mature Brunello to be. Powerful, concentrated, but also silky smooth.

Deep garnet with some bricking at the edges. Mainly tertiary notes on the nose - smoke, tobacco, soy sauce, balsamic, a hint of manure. On the palate it’s meaty with dark cherry fruit as well as some saltiness. Finish lasted about a minute. Exceptional.

Based on some of the other reviews, it seems like I got a good bottle.

October 28, 2023 - @ Eulalie. Decanted a couple of hours before enjoying. Almost the entire group blinded this as Bordeaux. In retrospect, the weight should have been a give away. A really lovely and intriguing wine, especially with food.

(CASANOVA NERI BRUNELLO TENUTA NUOVA) #3; COLOR-tremendous, dark for a Brunello; NOSE-great, strawberries & huge Vanilla extract, hints of: strawberry, cranberry, cedar box, menthol; TASTE-if you're a big fan of Syrah and CA cult Cabs, you like this wine; very good, very structured, ton of fruit, very extracted, crushed blackberries & raspberries w/ hints of cinnamon & vanilla extract, very luscious & fruity, super silky finish, but not like a traditional Brunello, more like a New World fruit bomb, ; WS's 2006 Wine of the YEAR; WS-97; GV-93

(CASANOVA NERI BRUNELLO TENUTA NUOVA) #2; COLOR-dark; NOSE-dark chocolate, classic Brunello, little cherry, hint of cedar box, sour raspberry; TASTE-great complexity, cherry flavors are really profound, very well made Brunello, a little hollow on the mid-palate, a lot of potential; WS's 2006 Wine of the YEAR; WS-97; GV-93+
