October 29, 2021 - Burgundy WIMPS October 2021 (La Trompette): This was great

Wonderful nose that gives waves of notes - initially a little animale, then sour cherry, some tomato, then black tea. Wow
Palate delivers good concentration of the fruit and a long finish.

I will be trying to get my hands on some of this!

May 23, 2021 - 2/4. Three years since our last bottle. Brown tinge on the rim in the glass. Perfectly pleasant on the nose but really comes alive on the palate and shows more complexity than the previous bottle. In a recent interview I read with David Duband he said that the impact of including whole bunches in the vinification starts to show itself in the wine at around the eight year mark so possibly that is in play here. Whether or not that is having an influence here this is a great wine in a great place with more to come.

April 29, 2017 - This was my first bottle from the 2012 vintage having consumed a couple from the 2011 vintage over the past couple of years.

I did not take the time to make a proper note at the time but it had powerful aromas including red fruits but also pronounced secondary aromas. On the palate there was redcurrant and red cherry but also a complex range of secondary flavours and a decent finish.

This is a stunning wine and I look forward to the next bottle.

February 5, 2017 - Pale garnet colour. The nose shows medium+ intensity aromas of gunpowder, violets, ripe dark plums, ripe dark cherries, cedar and hints of crushed black pepper and thym.

It is dry in the mouth with a medium+ acidity. it has medium- fine-grained tannins and a medium alcohol. It has a medium body and medium+ intensity flavours. The finish is long.

It is an outstanding quality wine. It has a lingering finish and its generous fruit concentration is in balance with the freshness provided by the acidity. It also shows complexity provided by floral, spicy and oak ageing aromas.
